The mercury is set to hit 40 degrees Celsius today. It was over 30 at 8h00. Our friend Bob from Garden Farm (http://www.gardenfarm.biz/) who gave us the chickens told us to hose down the area where they like to hangout to help them cope better with the heat.
Early this morning I hosed down the area under the Lilli Pilli where the rose bushes are growing and it seems to be working. Since moving here in July we have slowly restoring the dirt in the area with grass clipping and ground coffee and as a result the soil in the area is beautiful dark and crumbly with better ability to retain water and moisture.
